Alfa Romeo Spider 1600 “Duetto'“
Alfa Romeo Spider Duetto –
A Childhood Dream Fulfilled
Brand: Alfa Romeo
Model: Spider 1600 Duetto
The Alfa Romeo Spider 1600 Duetto is a classic Italian roadster introduced in 1966, designed by Pininfarina. Its 1.6-liter, four-cylinder engine delivered 109 horsepower, wrapped in a body so stylish that time and nostalgia have since elevated it into a true legend.
For a German entrepreneur approaching retirement, the Duetto represented more than just a car – it was the realization of a lifelong dream. He acquired his childhood dream car and, being an engineer himself, enthusiastically began the restoration on his own. Yet the bodywork and paintwork required professional expertise, so he turned to the team at Widi Automotive.
The Spider, which had made its way across the Atlantic, was far from pristine: typical American repairs and a thick filler covered the body. Our partner, Garage22 carried out the major structural restoration, whose meticulous work took nearly 1000 hours—and the results speak for themselves.

The paintwork was completed in the original factory shade, AR 103 AVORIO, perfectly capturing the car’s timeless elegance.
In addition to the body restoration, we also repaired and polished the bumper and grille. Previous accidents had left them bent and cracked in several places. Under skilled hands, they regained their original form – the damage was straightened, the cracks welded, and the surfaces polished to a brilliant shine. The result: details that once again embody the elegance of Alfa Romeo.
Now comes the reassembly, which the owner will complete himself. Soon, this iconic model will no longer be seen in the workshop but on the open road – where its owner and his wife can enjoy carefree journeys together.
